A LEARNING TEAM ?
Darden, Section E, LT 47, and Tangerine Tilapia

Yesterday innaguarated a new phase of the Darden experience for several reasons, but two stand out. Firstly, we were introduced to our Learning Teams (LT) for the first time - a small cohort of six first-year students, spread across disciplines and sections (we study most of our classes in this larger group of approx. 60). The idea here is that between the six of us we will have the necessary background to make sense of just about any case we are faced with. And secondly, together with my learning team we prepared for our first three classes - marketing, managerial accounting, and leading organizations.

As if yesterday wasn't crazy enough, today has continued the theme. I lived through my first three cases - and I feel smaller. I read the book Leadership & Self-Deception - prompting much naval-gazing. I ran into the very interesting Dean of Darden and discussed the difficulty of managing the huge library of cases Darden writes, uses, and sells.

And, finally, as I was leaving campus, I ran into a great Scots classmate (Alasdair) who calmed me down enough so that I could remember I was hungry again. Consequently, I drove home and cooked up some tremendous Tangerine Tilapia on my grill.

Now it's back to work, the day is far from over... I still have two hours of personal case prep. and three hours of group prep. before bedtime. I think this is what Dean Bruner refers to as "High Touch, High Tone, High Octane"...

It all makes so much more sense now.
