A MILLION SCREAMING FANS CAN'T BE WRONG How Becoming an Uncle Has Changed The Way I View The World "A million screaming fans can't be wrong" - Some Guy Promoting a 50's Rock Band
This past weekend I was away in Oklahoma visiting my brother. Well, really I was there to visit his new (first) child - Jonathan and, in the process, discover whether or not he was really as exciting as I was told - but it was nice to see my brother and sister-in-law as well.
Jonathan Pierce Meyer is a person. He is currently only 4 months old, but that will soon change. People in magazines and blogs like to write about how babies have changed their life, but they are so young, I have always wondered if the only thing that changed was their schedule. You know what I'm thinking... babies are so fiercely selfish and mind-numbingly repetitive in their appetite for attention, that they just gobble up parents' free-time. Their lives are changed by the re-allocation of their priorities. But that's not all.
Because Jonathan Pierce Meyer is a real person . People change our lives in ways that new priorities don't. I'm struggling to find a way to describe what the difference is, but I think it has something to do with the close proximity to another human soul.
It's like they can read your mind somehow. Babies know when you are planning to ignore them. They seem to know if you are a "good guy" who will pick them up and throw them effortlessly into the air before returning them gently to earth. And they know when you are a "bad guy" who is trying to drag them off to their bed before nap-time (you'd think it a fate worse than death by the look in a babies eye).
Anyway, after this weekend I see babies as our best hope for a better world. I have always liked babies but I never felt their power before. As if the power of God's incarnation is present in every baby's cry, and his creative power can be seen in every tiny smile.
I'll be more careful now with babies. I think maybe God can see us through their eyes. Posted May 31, 2007 little people Posted by: doubtful mother I'm thrilled to hear a child has touched your life!
They truly are amazing beings; that is until you start seeing your sin come out through them, then you wonder why in the world did the Lord choose me, of all people, to bring up children with all my short-comings...
Am I capable of doing a good job?
Will they be able to stand in the Last Days firmly planted under my teaching?
Is their someone to help to insure they are raised prepared?
Have you heard of the twelve tribes: the commonwealth of Israel?
Look it up and let me know what you think. visit, if possible
