FOUNDING FATHER(S)
The Land of Jefferson is a Good Place to Study Strategic Change

On an early spring day in Central Virginia, this blogger accidentally happened into the Albert and Shirley Small Collections Library on grounds here at UVA and discovered the most amazing things.

We have here, among other things, the William Faulkner collections, The Jefferson papers, The Edgar Allan Poe collection, and several handwritten letters from the architects of our American Revolution to each other.

After browsing through a series of truly fascinating exhibits - maps, photographs, paintings, etc. I found myself enthralled by the strategy with which our Founders executed their strategy to "change America for the common good". This is a plan that nearly every CEO tries at some time or other, but few are able to accomplish. And, while most people nowadays attempt to do this by way of complex machinations - our Founders used that oldest trick in the book, influencing people by talking.

I will have to finish this later because I am late for a meeting, but suffice it to say that my realization of the significance of this has only just begun to sink in and definitely plays a complimentary role to that of my B-School curriculum which emphasizes (wisely) the systemic portion of change. More later, when I try to explain why I think organizational leadership as a course of study is, perhaps, the most important subject in any MBA program.
